About the Region

Vinhos Verdes wine region is one of the most distinctive ones in Portugal. It is recognized for its humid and green landscape, and some say that the region’s name comes from the fact that it is so rich in vegetation.

The vineyards are scattered in several parcels, with higher concentration along the valleys of the main rivers. With an area of about 2400 hectares, the region’s soil is mainly granite.

Among the many existing grape varieties Alvarinho, Arinto and Avesso (white varieties) and Borraçal, Brancelho and Alvarelhão (red varieties) are the ones that stand out the most.

Our Partners

Quinta do Soalheiro

Quinta do Soalheiro was founded in 1974 by João António Cerdeira, passionate for the art of winemaking. Innovation reigns in this “small independent family production” company, which was the first estate to plant a continuous plot of Alvarinho vines in Melgaço.

Run by the third generation of the family, Quinta do Soalheiro focuses not only on the production of Alvarinhos and sparkling wines, but also on the production of infusions, while also standing out for its social intervention and regional development.

Quinta do Santiago

In Quinta do Santiago, dedication and family are values that put this company on the map, which has been family-owned since 1899. It opened its doors to the public as a result of Granny Mariazinha’s passion, who dedicated her whole life to wine production, and is currently a project that sees the union of three generations of the family with the aim of highlighting the uniqueness of the Alvarinho grape variety.

With the knowledge of the ancient generations in Quinta do Santiago you will be delighted not only by the unique green landscape, but also by the wide variety of experiences it offers for the whole family: Visits and Tastings, Lunches on the Farm, Picnics and Harvest Experiences.

Quinta da Covela

Quinta da Covela is located in the sub-region of Baião, in the Vinho Verde region, surrounded by the region’s characteristic green landscape, where the Avesso grape variety reigns.

It was acquired in 2011 by two friends as the fulfilment of a dream, using sustainable techniques not only in the production of the “fascinating and elegant” white and rosé wines, but also in the Quinta’s vegetable gardens and orchards.

With the opening of its wine tourism centre, Quinta da Covela’s main motivation is to present its wines to Portugal and the world.

Quinta do Ameal

At Quinta do Ameal, the presence of nature and tranquillity will contribute to an idyllic and special experience. With records confirming the property’s existence since the 18th century, it is located in Ponte de Lima, where the Loureiro grape variety, one of the most important in Vinho Verde production, is found in abundance.

At this incomparable Wine Estate, you can witness the production process and taste wines made from totally organic grapes, wander around its extensive gardens and spend the night in its family houses.
